Overview
Explore the phenomenon known as Pascal’s Triangle and follow the number trail contained in it to look at Art, Music, Botany and brackets.
We will explore the phenomenon known as Pascal’s Triangle and will follow the number trail contained in it to look at Art, Music, Botany and multiplying out brackets. We will look at different ways that Pascal’s triangle appears in different places within our world and marvel at the interconnections.
This session is of interest to anyone who enjoys number work and most of the time we will only be doing some addition and multiplication, although there will be a few minutes when we do a bit of algebra.
About the speaker
Graeme Austin is currently head of product for maths qualifications at the exam board, AQA. Previously, he spent ten years teaching maths in secondary schools and sixth form colleges. Before that, he spent 25 years working in the City in information services and software product and leadership roles. In his spare time, he is studying for a PhD in maths education, assessment and gender.
